QuickBooks Goes Mobile

By Bryan Patterson, CPA

One of the most successful and widely used financial software programs has joined the world of mobile applications. Intuit, writers of QuickBooks, has now made available a mobile application for iPhones, Androids, Blackberries and other smartphones. The application opens a multitude of new opportunities for those who conduct business “on-the-go”.

The application adds many functions that help manage your business. QuickBooks users can now manage their customers by having the ability to access their customer data bases, with the ability to view, add & edit customer information. If users have an online account, the application syncs automatically with QuickBooks giving the mobile user the most up-to-date information whether they are in or out of the office. Also, you can review customer balances without having to consult or return to the office.

Accessing data is not the only function with which the mobile users are enabled. QuickBooks users can continue to update jobs while out of the office. QuickBooks Mobile gives users the option of create estimates and invoices while at the job. Estimates can also be converted to invoices at the job site.

The program has the option to be password protected to prevent unauthorized use or release of information. QuickBooks Mobile access is free for any current QuickBooks Online subscriber and is available to QuickBooks Pro and Premier 2011 customers through a subscription. The free application can be downloaded directly from the Android Market or Apple iTunes.
